The method
Three habits beat memorising a list of scam tricks.
1. Stop
Urgency is useful to scammers. Slow the interaction down before you click, pay, call or reply.
2. Check
Inspect the sender, link destination, payment request, language, context and anything that does not fit your normal experience.
3. Verify
Leave the message. Open the organisation’s official app, type its known website yourself, or call a trusted number you obtained independently.
About these examples: The messages in Scam Spotter are educational reconstructions based on common fraud techniques. They are not live scam links and do not reproduce a victim’s private correspondence.
Important: Scam Spotter teaches patterns, not foolproof rules. A familiar logo, sender name or plausible-looking web address does not prove a message is genuine. When money, credentials or urgent action are involved, verify through a channel you opened independently.
